Get Jazzy! Two easy online songs

#online and #offline #songsuggestions #thecreativechoirleader
I was only going to do one post this week for this topic but I really want to tell you about this two jazzy numbers as well!

“All That Jazz” from the musical #chicago. Lyrics by Fred Ebb and music by John Kander arranged by Kirby Shaw

Oh my goodness, my ladies LOVED this piece and it has become the star of our “Sing the Shows!” themed online choir sessions for the past 6 weeks. Great for ladies choirs and you can really bring out your inner sassiness with this one.

From an online choir perspective, I think it’s brilliant because of the very simple harmonies and the layering of the two melodies at the end. Songs with layered melodies are great because the singers can lock onto their part easily and just sing a long, without needing to pick out the harmony part from the demo.

Added props: feather bowers and sparkly hats!!!

“It Don’t Mean a Thing (if it ain’t got that swing)” words and music by Duke Ellington and Irving Mills arranged Roger Emerson

I’ve used this piece so many times with my choirs when I need a quick learn and a concert filler. We use the 2 part version. It’s really fun and my singers love the unison scat singing in the middle: perfect little tongue twister challenge for online choirs.

Swing style and vivacious! Who doesn’t like a “Doo wah, doo wah, doo wah” πŸŽΌπŸ˜€πŸŽ·πŸŽ·πŸŽ·πŸŽΊπŸŽΊπŸŽΊπŸŽΉ
